My best friend asked me an odd question a few days ago: "Where does she, who is usually as gentle as a prominent little fairy, get the urge to be so intimate all of a sudden?" Who could resist such passionate enthusiasm? But I worry about her state of mind and just how much more of this heightened need I can take...

In fact, this is fairly frequent. The great majority of women act just the same. It is a widely recognized fact that women tend to be more irritable and agitated during their period. Some may say I'm being dramatic, but, (it's) all due to the rise and fall of hormones, that leads to what is known as "premenstrual syndrome", "period syndrome".

It's like the (relatively) little things in life that one could normally just take for granted suddenly go up in explosive intensity during her period, gaining in worth as the days go by. It is not only the little things in life that seem to become heightened, so do her passions.

Why do women have a high sex drive while menstrating? Some women have a few bad moods during this period, other women have a higher sex drive during these days (including the days before it) and when it is over. In one survey from leading American institution, with 619 female respondents, they asked “When do you think sexual desire peaks?” The findings suggested that on the day before or the day beginning menstruation is the great time for women's desire. There are two main factors for this behavior.

Let us look at the physiological reasons first. The human body is a complex machine and is filled with hormones that rule our states of mind and our desires. The chemicals a woman's body produces also have an impact on a woman's libido. Soyoung Lee said, Women's hormones are generally at their lowest point pre- and postmenstruation, when testosterone increases can drive desire. While one of the hormonal levels increases while the other decreases, women can feel a stronger desire for sexual intimacy when on their period.

Let us now turn to the psychological reasons. And, in addition to the hormones, the psychological underpinnings of the desire for sex around menstruation are among the explanations for it put forward by experts. It's really quite simple: When you are denied a particular type of food for an entire week, like meat, and then a week later dont face that denial, what is naturally gonna happen is you are going to make it up for it by going overboard and treating yourself more than you would have if you didn't feel deprived that week. Additionally, the probability of conception is very low during menstruation, and this may give women a “certain cushion,” for example, meaning they would be more willing to be involved in sex.

The thing is – and it is true – that women do tend to feel horny during their periods – having sex while bleeding is just a whole lot of hassle and it isn’t without it’s risks. Is it permissable to have sex during menses? "based on personal experience, there are way more women who have fought bloody battles on their period than you would ever believe. So, in reality yes you can have sex during your period, in fact the taboo element might even make it more sexy.

But there will be a price to pay. It's ok to have sex when you're on your period; it's just not mandatory.

Hygiene is paramount. 1.Poor hygiene can mean regular and repeated infections that are becoming the cause of a number of gynecological problems. The cervix is slightly open during menstruation, and the endometrium can have many small sores. Menstrual blood is an excellent medium for bacteria and other germs to breed and, having intercourses during this phase there is a higher risk of infections. If a person has a compromised immune system, or if someone has existing gynecological issues, Healthline advise against engaging in sex during menstruation.

Throughout it, estrogen plummets, cervical mucus dries up, and the tissues themselves lose some of their natural resistance to bacteria. So having intercourse during menses increases the chances of endometritis, pelvic inflammatory disease, and similar adverse outcomes." In extreme cases, these may put the fallopian tubes at risk and lead to sterility. Couples who are actively trying to conceive would be best served to do their best not to thwart their efforts just to satisfy a fleeting desire.

Finally, coitus, itself may cause congestion of the generative organs and thereby be a cause of the flow of blood. The delicate interior mucus lining can get damaged accidentally, and cause interference with the menstrual schedule. As such, it is not recommended for a woman to have a sexual contact after her period ends. Even if the desire is pressing, you should still wait two to three days after the menstruation has finished before having sex.

And no matter how aggressive a woman is in her pursuits, the man must always be in control! Spending time together – watching TV, having nice meals and distracting her from the pain, is a good way to make your connection stronger.
